"New gay bar called Babylon. It is located at 23 Xian Lie Nan Rd (not far from Velvet). You can call 136-5084-6550 or 137-1034-1148. Babylon used to be a straight bar but it's more than 80% gay now, with lots of young, local guys and some MBs (not high class, but funny). It is a good way to continue the night after Wilber's and before Velvet, for those who want change. There is also a new after party place called Dream Lab right after Metro supermarket on the same side of Huangpu Dadao (3803-1580). "I checked out Rich-e club last Sat. Actually, this English name is a very poor, shortened rendition of the Chinese which means 'Coming Out Of The Closet.' Sure enough this club has some of the hallmarks of a genuine gay club. I think Rich-e is much more satisfying in this respect than Velvet which is a mixed, fashionable club with plenty of straight people and not 100% gay. I found the crowd at Rich-e to be less chic, but far more friendly. There was a nice mix of ages and social backgrounds to give a democratic feel, and an absolutely incredible floor show towards 1am, with two very well built male dancers who did acrobatic dancing. Erotic! But definitely creative and tasteful. It could be worth going just to check these guys out! Foreigners are very welcome here but may get somewhat bored with the Chinese obsession with dice and drinking games." -- JayCool, Jun 1, 2010

1/F no 403 International Electronic Mansion, Huanshi Dong Lu, Chinese Overseas Village, 8732-7801, 8732-7802. Gays head here when the other clubs empty. Very smoky, crowded place. After 3am they turn down the music and people start leaving. Generous on alcohol. Beware of bartenders are not very honest (double check the prices); rude and incompetent security; pick-pockets.
