"Went to the FFWY sauna and it is open, busy, efficient and renovated." -- JAISING, Apr 10, 2008
"A bit like Jing Fa, but roomier. The lounge area was tidy. About a dozen guys, some willing to chat. All in all fairly ralaxed, but too far, unless you live on that side of town (20-40 minutes by taxi from the CBD in good traffic)." -- fantong, Jan 8, 2008
"They have added more private rooms for overnight guests. New system is: you go in, deposit your shoes and get shoe box key by yourself and proceed to the front desk to make payment. Overnight guests are required to register their names, etc." -- h2008bj, Jun 11, 2007
Jing Fa
5 Dong Fang Dong Lu (east of the Hilton Hotel), Xiao Liang Ma Qiao, Chaoyang District, 6461-7468. Approximately 300 meters east of the Hilton, right next to a very tiny kiosk after the first Chinese restaurant (成都小吃) and a gate for an apartment. Go past the main entrance to the Hilton, past the entrance to the Hilton Carpark (the roadway runs roughly parallel to the 3rd Ring Rd but you are going back against the flow of the traffic on that side, ie, south). The road turns left (east) round a corner where there is a bar sign 'Bar One'. Go past Bar One, past the Home Inn and their parking lot, then past the next alley/lane. At that corner, still facing the road you passed Bar One on, you will see a doorway. Right now it has a red facade, though the door is blue. Directly to the right is a doorway hung with translucent rubber strips and that's where you enter. If you can't find them, ring them and tell them you are outside. If you don't speak Mandarin, ask a taxi driver to call them. Dry and mist sauna, large rest lounge and small dark cabins, massage room, karaoke room, table tennis. Open 8am-2am. Most crowded on Sat from 11am-3pm. 京发浴池。地址:北京市朝阳区小亮马桥东方东路5号。乘车路线:东三环三元桥附近,霄云路(三元庵站)405、416、421、953、运通104、特3

"I visited a dumpy sauna across from the new Korean Embassy and they said they cannot use their sauna and shower facilities until after the Olympics. They still offer massage, pingpong, karaoke, and lying about; but no shower facilities." -- PJAK, Apr 15, 2008
"Jing Fa is absolutley awful! I actually saw cockroaches walking around while I was in the sauna. The place is run down and filty - not worth the entrance price (Y$30). No towels, no supplies and no hygiene. I won't be going back anytime soon." -- primeguy, Apr 1, 2008
"Jing Fa is very run down, dirty and not very good. There are male prozzies there who won't tell you they are till the finish." -- rotodanny, Mar 30, 2008
"Jing Fa is back in action after renovations. The steam room has been improved and actually works. Tue after work I saw the usual guys in all shapes and sizes - certainly not a place that posers visit just after work (still at the gym perhaps). The sauna was fun, though small." -- fantong, Jan 28, 2008
"The place is run down a bit, but will do if you are looking for a bargain. The entrance fee is Y$30. I was there on a weeknight at 6:30pm and there was no shortage of men. I enjoyed a Chinese style massage. This was Y$50 for 60 minutes -- very good! The mature masseurs have more experience. A wonderful foot massage is Y$38. They also offer a more intimate 'healthy body' massage with oil at Y$168 for 80 minutes. All told, you can get a Chinese style massage for an hour, take a nap, have a foot massage while watching Chinese television or movies on their big screen TV, and then end the evening with an 80 minute oil massage--all for under Y$300. Bring your protection. I saw none--despite multiple billboards in many of Beijing's subway stations with warnings of AIDS. Also, they give you no towels, just a little wash cloth and a disposable sauna outfit." -- OuLaowei, Mar 27, 2007
Kai Yang
You An Men Wai Da Jie Dong San Tiao Yi Hao, 6356-4388. Kai Yang has the standard facilities common to gay saunas in Beijing. The one difference is that they stage drag shows late Sat nights to draw crowds. They have a sauna, a steam room, a small pool and open shower area for about 7. Heading upstairs, they have about 10 x 3 rows of beds, facing the TV and a large stage. Massage also available. 开阳洗浴。地址:右安门外大街东三条1号
Mingren Yuchang
6706-1866. 200m west of Chongwenmen Xinshi Jie Shangchang and Xinshiji Qiangui KTV. If you have trouble finding it, ask your cab driver to call them. The interior is clean and modern, almost as good as Oasis. They have a small bar, gym, free Internet, a big room with beds and private rooms. Massage by cute guys is also available. Inexpensive entry fee. 名人浴场。 地址:崇文区新世界商场和新世纪KTV向西200米。
Comments from Utopians:
"If trying to find this place, you need to come from the Chongwenmen Subway station, south, past the New World Center's first two buildings. This means past the lane between buildings (they are connected by a 3/F walkway), to the next corner. You will see the KTV sign high on the building past the next road on your right (if coming south). At the lane right before the building with the KTV sign, turn right and go all the way to the end. It is a two block road. You will pass the New World building on the right, and then eventually pass a small children's playground on the right. At the end of this two block road, directly in front and across the street, you will find Mingren. There are four large red characters marking the sauna. Ming is the same character as in 'tomorrow' (mingtian), and ren is the character for 'people.' If you can't read characters ask someone at your hotel to write it and this will help you find it. As for as sauna, it was dead. No patrons on the early week night evening that I went. Though there were many staff working there. Entrance was Y$30. The Chinese massage was Y$128 for 45 minutes. Though I would not recommend it. The masseurs seemed to lack real experience, spending lots of energy and time trying to convince you to have their 'special' massage (over Y$400. Overall, I'd skip this place. It was dirty, the sauna was not on (no patrons), and the massuers weren't really trained." -- OuLaowei, Mar 27, 2007
Shui Yuan
2-4 Nan Men Cang Hutong, Dongcheng Dist, 8406-6948. Inside the 2nd Ring Rd between Dong Si Shi Tiao Subway Station and Chao Yang Men Subway Station. Get off at Dong Si Shi Tiao Station Exit D and you will see New Bao Li Da Sha on your left. Go straight (to the west) and turn right (to the south) on the first corner to Dong Men Cang Hutong St until the first intersection. You will find Oasis Club across the road (southeast of the intersection of Dong Men Cang Hutong St and Nan Men Cang Hutong St).
Comments from Utopians:
"Went to Shui Yuan with a Chinese friend last night and was told that that they only allow foreigners in with a passport or ID card." -- primeguy, May 24, 2008
"I was to Shui Yuan last weekend. The authorities forced them to close the front larger sauna area with the whirlpool and extra-fun showers; instead we have to use a smaller, brightly-lit shower and dry sauna. Otherwise, it is still in operation. I guess it has something to do with the Olympics." -- PJAK, Apr 15, 2008
