TAIWAN - Oct 3, 2002

A media frenzy has erupted following allegations that a male government official made a pass at another man in a karaoke bar last month. Opposition lawmaker, Diane Lee of the People First Party, leveled the charges at Twu Shing Jer, acting director of the Department of Health. Mr. Twu denied the allegations which were immediately sensationalized by the island’s press and cable news channels. Evidence of the claimed sexual harassment has yet to be provided.

Also unsubstantiated is “Nosey” Lee’s claim that Mr. Twu forced bar patrons to join in a sing-along rendition of It’s Raining Men ;-P
