Aleck, a Utopian from Taiwan, reports on gay dance scene in Taipei...

"Rave parties are very popular in Taipei now. TeXound and 2F (mixed) are the most popular clubs and Going welcomes gay-only ravers. However, after 4am almost all the guys at TeXound are gay. On Sunday mornings, the "Sunrise Party" at 2F is for gays and on the last Friday every month, 2F has a gay-only party called "G5". On Friday and Saturday nights you can meet many gays in these places. On Wednesdays, you can get a discounted admission if you wear a white T-shirt to Going.

"Of course, many guys are using drugs, but please don’t forget that most drugs are illegal in Taiwan. If you carry or use these drugs, you may be jailed! The doorman will check your bag to prevent you taking drugs into the club. Rush (poppers) is not illegal, so you can use it in public if you want.

"Home parties are also very popular these days. The home party is private, at a secret location, and only for gays. Taiwanese call these types of parties "ESP". They charge admission and allow only underwear to be worn, so don't bother wearing fashion. There are different rooms for you to dance and have fun. Please ask your Taiwanese friends for the latest ESP. They usually start at 11pm."
