Close to 10,000 GLBT and their supporters gathered in Singapore on June 18, 2011 for the 3rd annual Pink Dot event to fight invisibility (the mass of attendees can be seen from earth-mapping satellites in space as a big "we are here" pink dot) and draw attention to the need for equal rights.

Singapore, while a thoroughly modern "Asian tiger," still maintains antique British colonial anti-buggery laws to appease conservative religious minorities. Only a few Asian countries still maintain anti-gay laws, with India's high court being the the most recent to soundly reject insitutionalized discrimination against GLBT citizens.
